The late Fred Francis Wells was a legendary machinist and gunmaker, one of only a very small number who could make a Mauser action by hand from a billet of steel using only a lathe and milling machine long before the advent of CNC nachines. This amazing gun built on one of those actions. It was done as a family affair with barreling by Rube Wells and engraving by Rachel Wells. It was then stocked by Winston Elrod of Chesaning, MI who has been building stocks for over 40 years. This gun remains new from a very talented cohort of gunmaking royalty.
