Mannlicher-Schoenauer 7x57 by Marholdt-Peterlongo of Innsbruck, Austria built in 1952 on a pre-war "High Power" action with a 23 1/2" Bohler-Blitz Steel barrel with a ramp front sight and single standing island rear sight. Excellent bore. Never drilled or tapped. Reciever, floorplate, and trigger guard with 50% coverage fine scroll engraving. Maker's name engraved on barrel. Action screws and barrel tie down escutcheon engraved. Butterknife bolt handle. European Walnut stock with pancake cheekpiece and point pattern checkering. 13 3/4" LOP to Decelerator pad. 7lb 6oz An interesting gun on the renown Mannlicher-Schoenauer action in a great caliber.
Richard Marholdt was born in 1878 and died in 1949. He was the head of Tiroler Waffenfabrik Peterlong [ founded by Johann Peterlongo in Innsbruck, Austria in 1854 ] from 1898 until 1918. In 1919 he founded Richard Marholdt & Sohn which took over Tiroler Waffenfabrik Peterlongo in 1939. His son, Herbert, took over the company after his death.
