Ithaca 5E NID 12 Gauge $7250
Ithaca NID 5E 12 Gauge manufactured in 1927 with 30" F/F "Best Fluid Steel" vent rib ejector barrels with large ivory front bead and small ivory mid-bead. Bores are very good, bright and shiney, measuring .734 right and left. Choked .045[F] right and left. Chambers are 2 3/4" NID receiver with cocking indicators and traces of color case hardening in protected areas. Typical 5E engraving with pheasant on the left, woodcock on the right, and an American Eagle with "Made in USA, Ithaca Gun Co., Ithaca N.Y.'' on the floorplate all surrounded by foliate and scroll. Most likely engraved by Bill McGraw but unsigned. Single selective trigger. Toplever well to the right. Tight and on face. Beautiful pistol grip stock with excellent figure and a vacant stock oval. Fleur-de-lis and ribbon checkering pattern. LOP is 13 3/4" over a mid-position single trigger. Ithaca sunburst pad which appears to be original. DAC - 1 1/2" DAH - 2 1/2" Neutral cast. Weighs in at 8lb 4oz
This piece appears to be all original and unmolested. Both buttstock and beaver tail forend are solid and without repairs. Barrel blue at 95%. Trigger guard blue at 80% Stock finish and checkering at 94%. This is one of only 155 Grade 5 guns produced and we can safely assume that not all of these have survived. A classic and rare piece from the golden era of American gunmaking.
