Hoffman Arms Company, Ardmore, Okla. #384 Built on a Commercial Oberndorf Mauser action with a 23" barrel with a banded ramp front sight, barrel band sling stud, and integral quarter rib with two folding leaves. Bore is excellent. Receiver with a Lyman 48 peep sight and a Noske detachable sidemount with Zeiss Zielklein 7/8" scope. Stocked in straight grained European Walnut with a steel buttplate, trap steel grip cap, shadow line pancake cheekpiece, and horn forend tip. Engraving by Rudolph Kornbrath to include the floorplate, trigger guard, and grip cap with gold inlay monogram [L.L.K.]. LOP is 13 1/2" Weight 8lb 14oz
This is an outstanding American Classic firearm built between 1925 and 1930. It remains in very nice all original condition with no sign of repairs or restoration. Griffin & Howe was founded in New York City in June of 1923 by Seymour Griffin and James Howe at the suggestion of Col. Townsend Whelen. Hoffman Arms was founded in the same month and year in Cleveland, Ohio. In October of 1923 James Howe left Griffin & Howe to join Hoffman Arms. Hoffman Arms moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma in 1925 and closed their doors in 1930 at the height of the great depression.
