Elrod / Stickley .375 H&H Mauser Custom $13,500
Winston Elrod .375 H&H built on a Vektor true magnum length double square bridge Mauser action with metal work by Rick Stickley. This masterpiece features a Kreiger 24" all integral feature barrel with integral banded ramp front sight, banded sling stud, and quarter rib. Built from one solid piece of steel, none of these will loosen or fall off in the field. The South African Vektor double square bridge action is a CNC machined action very similar to the Granite Mountain actions. They were produced in the 80's. The reciever features a side swing safety, drop box magazine with straddle floorplate and trigger bow release, and a fully adjustable trigger. Jerome Glimm bolt handle with four checkered teardrop panels and rosette engraved tip. The square bridges are machined for classicly styled Stickley proprietary lever release 30mm rings with dovetail covers for use when open sights are being used. Currently scoped with a new Swarovski 2.5x10x42 with duplex although not pictured. Stocked in the English style with a very nice piece of English Walnut with excellent color and contrasting dark lines. Stock features include a shadow line pancake cheekpiece, steel pistol grip cap, double crossbolts, two screw inletted rear swivel stud, and an ebony forend tip. Checkering is point pattern with a mullered border. LOP is 13 3/4" to a checkered steel Biesen buttplate. 10lb 8oz as scoped and 9lb 5oz without scope.
This is a top shelf piece in every respect. It is built with all the features a safari rifle should have and with the integral feature barrel will go the distance without failure. Mr. Elrod of Chesaning, MI has been stocking fine rifles for over 40 years. His inletting and checkering are second to none. Rick Stickley is a master machinist who last worked for John Bolliger's Mountain Riflery and his metal work is seen on many Bolliger guns. He was one of a handful of gunmakers who crafted round integral featue barrels using only mill and lathe before the days of CNC machining. Unfortunately Mr. Stickley is no longer working in the firearms industry. This piece is unsurpassed in every way and remains new from the makers. The rear sight has not been filed in or blued.
