Griffin & Howe Springfield Engraved 30-06           SOLD!
Early Kornbrath engraved Griffin & Howe Springfield in 30-06 with 24" barrel with banded hooded ramp front sight and banded sling swivel barrel tie down. Early Griffin & Howe single lever sidemount marked "Pat. Appl. For". Zeiss Zielklein 2x scope with leather lens covers.  Lyman 48 reciever peep sight. Serrated trigger face. Bolt knob flattened and checkered on the inside with pear shaped checkered panel on the outside. Rudolph Kornbrath scroll engraving on the barrel shank, barrel band, floorplate, and trigger guard. This gun does not have a Griffin & Howe serial number on the barrel. Stocked in a nice piece of European Walnut with an early style Fleur-de-Lis checkering pattern, horn pistol grip cap, and schnabel forend tip. Checkered and engraved trap buttplate containing an oil bottle. Overall good condition with an excellent bore and 13 3/8" LOP.   9lb 2oz as scoped.
This is a very early Griffin & Howe with the makers name engraved on the forward part of the floorplate. It is pictured on page 25 of "Custom Gunmakers of the 20th Century" by Michael Petrov. A rare piece of Americana.
